本州のアズマネザサの葉から記載された。その他、メダケや小笠原諸島の父島ではヤダケからも採集されている。通常淡褐色から褐色であるが、淡色と褐色に色分けされるタイプまで連続的に色彩変異がある。前翅は通常中央部が褐色に曇るが、色分けされるタイプでは一様に淡色のことがある。

This species was described from the leaves of Pleioblastus chino. It also occurs commonly on P. simonii, and on Pseudosasa japonica in Chichi-jima Is., the Ogasawara Islands. The fore wings are usually shaded in brown medially but often uniformly pale in the bicoloured females.
